Let's Talk Album Sales!!!
Kanye West was able to reclaim his position as the biggest rap seller on the charts this week according to the Nielsen SoundScan.
After being debunked as the top hip-hop CD on the Billboard 200 last week by the Notorious soundtrack, Ye is back on top. Landing at the no. 4 position with 39,230 sold this week, 808s & Heartbreak now stands at 1,224,110 units scanned after nine weeks.
Five spots down is the Notorious OST, which features unreleased demos from the late Biggie Smalls as well as new tracks by Jay-Z and Jadakiss. In its second week the compilation sold 28,990 units bringing its overall sales figures to 72,020.
At no. 17 and no. 18 respectively is Akon and T.I. It was recently announced that the Atlanta rap giant will be performing at the Grammys alongside Justin Timberlake next month as well as Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Ye for a rendition of their hit song, “Swagga Like Us.”
Back to the charts, Weezy fell three spots to no. 26 this week. The rapper-turned-rocker, pushed 15,890 units off the shelves this cycle, making his total that much closer to triple platinum status.
