50 Cent Facing Copyright Infringement Suit

Shout out to brand new Industry's Alternative Client Caliber! You may be familiar with his recent case against 50 cent! He actually owned the "I Get Money" beat first and has the correct paperwork behind it. He now went public with it, and is everywhere on all publications.... Check it out!

via xxlmag.com

50 Cent is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit for his 2007 single, “I Get Money.”

In the suit, an Atlanta rapper named Tyrone “Young Caliber” Simmons, claims that he purchased the ” I Get Money” instrumental from producer Apex first and has exclusive rights to the beat.

In addition to Fif, he is seeking damages from Universal Music Group, Interscope Records, Aftermath Records, G-Unit Records, and Shady Records.

G-Dep Snitches on Himself

When I read about this I was appalled! He must have had some evils haunting him! This is probably why Diddy stopped fucking with him.

G-Dep is currently being held by authorities after shockingly admitting to a murder that happened 17 years ago.

According to the New York Post, on Wednesday (December 15), the former Bad Boy rapper walked into a police precinct in Manhattan and confessed to killing John Henkel on October 19,1993, during a botched robbery attempt outside of a Harlem project building. Detailing the incident, Dep, who was 18 at the time, admitted to tossing his .40 caliber gun in the East River after using it on his victim. Cops checked his story with their file on the unsolved case and it apparently matched up.

Miley Cyrus Gets High Too

It's about time this byatch gets caught out there doing something suspect! The video shows her taking some power hits from a BONG and then acting extremely silly and might I say, like a fool. TMZ.com did some dirty work on this one!

From missinfo.tv
TMZ did some dirty work and unleashed a camera phone video of the young singer smoking an unkown substance out of a bong (water pipe). The source of the video claims the substance is a legal herb called salvia and the video was stolen from a friend of Miley’s, just days after she turned 18.

I have tried that legal Marijuana before and I to be honest although it gets you light-headed, there is nothing like the real deal :).

Willow Smith: "I Hardly Ever go to School, and No Time for a Tutor"

I read about this on Mediatakeout.com and I must admit, I was pretty disappointed. I don't care how much of a star you, school is still fundamental, especially for a 10 year old. Even though she is going to be super rich with or without school, I still say its necessary, especially for her writing skills.

Here is an exact quote taken from an interview that was done for a British Newspaper.

Willow responded by saying this:

”I never really get to go to school because I am always on tour, or with my father. There is a tutor most of the time, but usually I am working so I never get to do the lessons.

The worst thing about maths is all the kids are ahead of me because they go to school.”

Dr. Dre is 45 but Physically 31?

I know you enjoyed our previous post of the Kush video which is a smash hit and one of my personal favorites right now! One huge thing about the music industry is that you must stay in shape! Seems like the homie Dre has this science down packed. XXL caught up with Dre for an interview and this is what he said...

I feel like, now I feel much better—and actually look better, to me—than I did when I was in my early 20s or 30s. I’m definitely healthier now. That has a big part to do with it, just staying healthy. It definitely keeps your confidence up. I’ve actually had tests on my body, and the doctor said I’m 31. [Laughs] So I’m riding with that shit. [Laughs]”

Billboard's New Social Media Chart

With the popularity of YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and iLike.com, it was only a matter of time before someone would use the social media sites to rank an artist’s importance. Billboard did just that, recently releasing their inaugural Social 50 Chart, which lists the most active artists online.

Rihanna and Justin Bieber topped this first chart at No. 1 and No. 2, while Eminem—who just nabbed 10 Grammy nominations—picked up the No. 3 spot. Other hip-hop artists to appear in the top 10 include Young Money Princess Nicki Minaj at No. 5, Lil Wayne at No. 8 and Kanye West at No. 9.

“We continue to adapt the way we chart the changing landscape of music,” Billboard’s editorial director Bill Werde explained in a statement. “The Social 50 is yet another step in the evolution of Billboard and an important response to our changing times.”

The new chart uses information garnered from Next Big Sound, a social music tracking service that takes into account an artists friends, fans and followers on all the leading social networking sites, according to Yahoo News.

“The volume of online activity that top artists now receive is too big to ignore,” Next Big Sound CEO, Alex White said. “We are thrilled that social music activity now receives the same emphasis as the music charts for which Billboard is synonymous.”

Billboard will release The Social 50 Chart on a weekly basis from now on. —Elan Mancini

via www.xxlmag.com

Ghostface Killah’s new album, Apollo Kids, will be released one week later than expected.

The LP has also changed up its tracklisting. The song Rockbox has been replaced by the Pete Rock produced cut “How You Like Me Baby.”

Birdman Speaks on Lil Kim and Minaj Beef

Huge Shout out to XXLmag.com for this one.

I've always been a Birdman Fan, he always speaks some real sh*t.

According to Baby, neither him nor his label ever wanted to get involved in beef, but in this case he has to roll with the punches. “Well, you know with Nick we’re just doin’ music, I don’t care to get caught up in that and I don’t care to make money off of that,” he said. “We never fucked with that. It is what it is. That’s not our thing, but it is what it is so we gotta let it be what it be.”

Speaking on Kim’s initial problem with Nicki failing to give her respect publicly for paving the way for female rappers, Birdman said he disagrees. “Nicki is grown, Nicki does her own thing, I don’t think she has to— nobody has to salute or be saluted, we in this hustlin’,” he said. “The hustle gonna make you salute, just watchin’ a nigga grind and see how he shine. Nicki’s with her team, we ain’t doin’ nothing expect putting out good music. So if somebody’s fuckin’ with that, to me, they’re violating. Bullshit don’t weigh nothing, the grind and the money do.

Album Sales: Kanye West Damn Near Goes Gold First Week and So does Nicki

Via XXL

As expected, Kanye West has done it again. The Louis Vuitton Don’s new, critically-acclaimed album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy debuted at the No. 1 position on the Billboard Top 200 sales charts this morning (December 1), making it his fourth No. 1 LP.

According to the Nielsen SoundScan report, released today, the Chicago rapper/producer sold about 495,800 copies of his XXL rated disc in his first week on store shelves. The numbers, though impressive, fall short of the projections, which estimated that Yeezy would sell around 525,000 to 575,000 units.

Landing one spot below ’Ye at No. 2 is Nicki Minaj with her highly anticipated debut disc, Pink Friday. Hits Daily Double were right on target with their predictions for the Young Money princess, who reached about 375,200 in sales, as forecasted last week.

Although hip-hop artists were able to score the two highest seats on this week’s charts, another rap act doesn’t show up until all the way down the scale at No. 25. Eminem slid down to that spot this week, as Recovery picked up another 48,000 units. After 23 weeks the Detroit lyricist has a total tally of 3,052,900.

Failing to best his former label boss in his debut week was Lloyd Banks.....

Public Assembly Rocked out With 50 Tyson: Go BK

Last night was pretty interesting. Shout out to First Look Sessions for introducing a fresh new Showcase series in NYC. I saw a lot of dope artists doing their thing. What was interesting was, that I got to see the Internet Phenom 50 Tyson doing his thing, and it seems like I wasn't the only one that was anticipating it. Although I can't say that he is a good rapper etc, but it was great to see how someone with autism can have the courage to get on stage and do his thing. It was fairly obvious that he had autism but he still manages to maintain himself and be extremely humble and I thought that was a beautiful thing. Good times last night!

Shout out to the Good Life homie Judex who joined me out on my musical industry networking grind last night.

Nelly Remains in Top 10 First Week: Eminem Goes Triple Platinum

VIA

Hip-hop’s biggest artists slid down the Billboard Top 200 charts this week, as several new mainstream releases bombarded the shelves last week by such artists as Jackie Evancho, Rihanna, Kid Rock, the Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban, but Nelly still managed to land in the Top 10.

Outselling his projections, Nelly’s new disc, 5.0, grabbed the No. 10 spot, after selling 63,500 units in his first week on the charts. Kid Cudi didn’t fare so well, sliding 11 positions down from to No. 21. In its second week out The Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager’s sales dropped 79 percent from 169,400 to 36,000. To-date Cudder has moved 205,800 units off the shelves.

Two seats down at No. 23 is Eminem’s Recovery. The Detroit lyricist added 34,200 to his total tally, which now stands at 3,004,800. Shady officially reached the triple platinum mark after 22 weeks.

Rounding out the Top 40 is Lil Wayne. I Am Not A Human Being fell from No. 10 to No. 31 this week with 28,300 in sales. In eight weeks Weezy tips the scales at 474,400 units.

Next week look for big releases from Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Lloyd Banks and Jay-Z to impact the charts. —Elan Mancini

TI Covers the New Issue of Vibe

Sorry to say, but I think T.I. is one of the dumbest rappers alive! How can 1 man have so much, and do everything to fuck it up repeatedly. I also think his rapping skills are vanishing quickly. Hold your head TI!

Check out some excerpts from the article

ust a few days before T.I. had to turn himself into authorities once again, the predicate felon sat down with journalist, Erik Parker, and opened up about how someone who has been given so many chances ends up back in a prison cell. The Dec/Jan issue of VIBE hits news stands on Nov.30th.

VIBE: How did you get a drug habit?

T.I. : I had a lot of work done to my teeth. Oral surgery, extractions, six, seven, eight root canals. Between January to February. As soon as I got out, I had a lot of stuff done. In the joint, you eat shit that is unhealthy for you. I had fillings that fell out and stuff that had to get dealt with. Of course for the pain they gave me oxycontin and hydrocodone. And, mind you, on October 13, 2007, I had cut off everything―weed, alcohol. Then I get these pills and I start taking them for the pain at first. And then I’m like, Wait―this shit makes me feel good. And it’s legal. After the pain went away, I kept taking it. I had like five, six prescriptions. So I had, like 80 pills. Everybody else might have a drink or smoke a blunt, I took a pain pill. Times when I had 18-, 20-hour days, I’d take a pain pill. And eventually I developed―I guess―the beginning stages of dependence.

Nicki Minaj Vs. Lil Kim: Whose Diss Track is Hotter

Although Nicki's track definitely goes in, I think this track is a throw away track. I don't like Eminem's verse at all. Nicki threw some great shots at Kim, but I'm going to say this, I think Lil Kim actually has a better over-all track. Plus I think there is a certain level of respect that Lil Kim is owed. I mean Nicki Minaj is a new comer in the game, and although she is on top right now, it's always wise to respect the people who have been doing this for 10 years.

I wonder if Lil Kim wrote that though?

You tell me who you think has a better diss track! I like both artists!

Streetz Alternative Radio @ streetz106.com EvErY SuNdAy 10 - 12am

During my college years at St. John's University, I ran my own radio show for 2 years (Junior and Senior year). I used to have a lot of fun, speaking about regular topics, and having control over what music I play on my own radio show. My show was called Gorillas in a Concrete Jungle, and got popular fast because because of my Freestyle Friday Show. I had the best dudes on campus come to the station to spit their bast freestyle, and before you know it, a lot of up and coming artists from Jamiaca, Queens decided to come through and lay down a freestyle. Unfortunately shortly after the momentum started to blast off officially, my father passed away and that devastated my mind-state.

Each and every Sunday T.I.A. and Bass ent. bring you "Streetz Alternative" from 10 - 12am! We feature great talent, interview relevant execs, models, actors and anyone relevant to the entertainment industry that is shinning.

The interview is just an example of how we get down in the radio studio. Shout out to DJ Naim and Trillogy for coming in for a fresh interview. Salute!!!

Shout out to Gulla-House/Def Jam for jumping on board of The Industry's Alternative Roster! #Lezgo!

I'm Back like I Left Somethin!!! : The Prelude

Hello World!! As you probably already know, I have been on the Hiatus with this blog shit because I was a bit confused on what direction I should be going with it. First I made it all about New Music, Entertainment News, Politics, gadgets and my own personal business endeavors. Then I decided to only post relative news about my company, and all the beautiful things I have been doing in the music business. The life of an entrepreneur has it's ups and downs, and often has you contemplating your purpose and often question your destiny.

When I was away, I achieved some great landmarks like,
Speaking at some of the biggest music seminars (New Music Seminar Cleveland, Coast 2 Coast Mixtape conference, New England Music seminar, SMES 1 & 2 etc.....

Have been working with some great signed and unsigned artists while achieving productive placement on and off-line...
-Plies
-T-Boz
-Trillogy
-A. Lewins
-C-Luk
-Anthony Bless
etc..

And just recently signed Redman Gilla-House/Def Jam to my online marketing roster! The Industry's Alternative will be the only online marketing company that will be distributing Redman's exclusive content to niche online publications.

I'm in pursuit of worldwide recognition that our services are very niche and necessary for every Musician to partake in. Breaking some of the biggest records to various high traffic online music destinations.

With that said, I VOW to renter the Blog Posting game, with my thoughts on relevant topics in today's entertainment world amongst other things!!! Every post you will read from now on will be things I find entertaining whether you like it or not :). Of course I will also putting footage different things I involve myself with so you can walk with me!

Strap your seatbelts in... It's going to be 1 hell of a ride!
