T.I.A. Judges Premier Artist Showcase at Club Marlos in NJ

I'd like to thank all the artists that came out to the wonderful showcase that I judged and hosted at Marlos in Irvington NJ. As you all know Jersey is not exactly one of the biggest cornerstones to find talent, so it was a breath of fresh air to see some solid talent come through and put on 1 hell of a show. The show consisted of about 10-13 artists and I made sure I brought through some of my Industry friends like My man Mike who is former VP of A&R at Def Jam, as well ad Prestige who is a former Badboy hit man and has made many badboy hits, and last but not least James Williams from Cherry Lane music publishing group which is one of the biggest publishing companies in the US. Check out some pics and remember to always check us out on this blog to find the latest in "The Industry's Alternative".

Remember "Good music speaks for itself.... all it needs is visibility".

Rep The Stage Industry Showcase

This is one showcase you do not want to miss! for those of you who are interested in attending, you get admission for only $10.00 since you heard about it from The Industry's Alternative blog segment.

What is important to recognize about this showcase is the fact that people from high traffic blogs, online publications, digital distribution networks, A&Rs etc, will be in attendance. If you didn't notice, those are all realms my company uses to establish a strong viral presence for musicians, therefore it's only right I'm in the building for this one!

For those interested in attending email info@soulsessionsmusicgroup.com and make sure you let them know you heard about it from The Industry's Alternative (T.I.A.)

New XXL Def Jam Cover is Real Dope

This is a classic picture right here!!! The real question is.... where is Jay-Z? I guess he feels like he is above all this since he is independent now. If you ask me, Jay-Z was one of the biggest icons in the Def Jam movement!

25 years of existence is a huge accomplishment! And although KRS One feels that Def Jam ruined Rap music, I happen to think that it is a big driving force of hip hop culture!!

NAS Speaks on his Violent Lyrics....

It's good to finally hear Nas speak on why he wrote some of his violent lyrics. It's crazy that lately he has been under so much fire, when he is one of the most anti-violent rappers alive.

50 Cent Throws "This is 50 Festival" With some of the best

I was absolutely shocked when I read about this. 50, Jada, Sheek, Cory Guns, Styles P in the same building and kicking it? Check out a quick excerpt....

"I wanted to make a festival that didn't necessarily have to have an artist [who has a] single in rotation at the time," 50 explained to MTV News at the show. "That doesn't directly reflect good hip-hop. It reflects marketing dollars spent by the major corporations, the companies. Tonight we have everybody that means something to us musically in one spot. When I bring Cory Gunz, Trav, Maino ..."

Although this is a baeutiful thing.... one cannot help but to question 50's motives? Is he doing this to boycott the labels because his album is being shelved? Or is he doing because he genuinely want to collaborate with these artists and make some paper?
