New Client "Sound Cartagena" From Puerto Rico To Brooklyn... Brings you "Spanglish Digital"

Sound Cartagena Myspace

Sound Cartagena conducts a rare form of MC that is not often encountered. That is why he has lifted up eye-brows of artists like Akon, Red Cafe, Fabolous, Wyclef and many more respected Mcs. What is most interesting about Sound Cartagena is the fact that he is the product of an individual who grew up in the streets of both Peurto Rico and Brooklyn, and that is exactly what his music sounds like. With the sound of live instruments playing under Sala/Meringue fused with Hip Hop beats, the music sounds nothing less than fresh and reminiscent of background music in Scarface. Although he has created quite a buzz on the performance circuit in NYC Sound Cartagena is now determined to create a online buzz by turning to "The Industry's Alternative" to flood his third mixtape called "Spanglish Carter" which is said to be his best work yet. The Mixtape is set to be out on iTunes and all other digital retailers in the top of the 1st Quarter. You can then expect to see his mixtape featured on all top tier urban publications and blogs throughout the 1st quarter. Sound Cartagena is also a drummer of a band called Killah Beats that travels all around the world playing Latin Rhythms.

Catch a sampler of "Spanglish Digital" after the Jump.

Latest UK Rap Phenomenon "Haze Da Truth" Now On the T.I.A. Roster

From the US to the UK The Industry's Alternative is going International!

As we take it over-sees I would like to introduce one of the latest hot MCs buzzing right now in the United Kingdom. Coming from someone who mostly only listens to music coming from artists in the US, Haze Da Truth's sound captured me immediately because he has a natural rap presence about his music. The music seems natural like this is exactly what he was born to do. Apart from the fact he has a great production team, he also knows how to make hit records with a mix of reality rap. Haze is affiliated with a huge movement out in the UK called Eurogang and Sas.

His strong UK accent adds to his swagger, and originality. Dizee Rascal is one of the last UK artists to really blow up out there, well Haze Da Truth has plans to not only be the biggest rap star in the UK but he also envisions himself crossing over to becoming one of the biggest rap stars in the US. With collaborations with Max B and the late Stack Bundles and many others, Haze's buzz is spreading like wild fire. His latest mixtape project called "Breathe of Fresh Air" is available for free download on Datpiff.com and is being picked up on all major music blogs, urban publications and featured on social media networks. To download the mixtape click on the album artwork below.

Wale Moves 28k his first week: Manager says he was under-shipped

Yes and once again welcome to the downfall of being signed to a record label. This is a perfect example of why people can not depend on a record label. I actually listened to Wale's album and I must say it's one of the best freshman albums I have heard in a long time. According to his management, CD was under-shipped. Check it out...

Via XXL:

XXLMag.com spoke with Wale’s manager, Daniel Weisman, who claims that the label under shipped the disc to stores, much like what happened to fellow “Class of 09″ MC Asher Roth. ”Wale’s the type of artist who is bigger than the metrics (radio) say he is,” Weisman said. “That puts the label in a tough position in terms of physical distribution and because of twitter we are able to hear direct feedback from the fans about the problems they had actually finding the CD. But 64% of Wale’s sales came from digital outlets which makes sense for Wale. It’s a testament to Interscope and their confidence in Wale’s brand that they put the record out without a big single.”

T.I.A. Judges Premier Artist Showcase at Club Marlos in NJ

I'd like to thank all the artists that came out to the wonderful showcase that I judged and hosted at Marlos in Irvington NJ. As you all know Jersey is not exactly one of the biggest cornerstones to find talent, so it was a breath of fresh air to see some solid talent come through and put on 1 hell of a show. The show consisted of about 10-13 artists and I made sure I brought through some of my Industry friends like My man Mike who is former VP of A&R at Def Jam, as well ad Prestige who is a former Badboy hit man and has made many badboy hits, and last but not least James Williams from Cherry Lane music publishing group which is one of the biggest publishing companies in the US. Check out some pics and remember to always check us out on this blog to find the latest in "The Industry's Alternative".

Remember "Good music speaks for itself.... all it needs is visibility".

SMES Conference Was a Blast

I had a great time at the South East Music and Entertainment Summit. I had the honor of speaking on a great digital media panel and was amongst some great industry professionals and entrepreneurs. The next conference T.I.A. will be attending is "The New England Music Conference" taking place on 10/17... make sure you stay tuned for more updates.

Remember if you love something, make sure you push it to the limit and aim for success... it's just miles away. Condition yourself for the run....

New XXL Def Jam Cover is Real Dope

This is a classic picture right here!!! The real question is.... where is Jay-Z? I guess he feels like he is above all this since he is independent now. If you ask me, Jay-Z was one of the biggest icons in the Def Jam movement!

25 years of existence is a huge accomplishment! And although KRS One feels that Def Jam ruined Rap music, I happen to think that it is a big driving force of hip hop culture!!
